The process
Design service details for kitchens, bedrooms, home office, media wall, boot room and utilities.
1 – Contact the shop to arrange a free design consultation (depending on the time of year this could be within a few days or up to 2 months wait). You can advise on colours and styles you like then our kitchen designer will be able to bring samples out to you when they visit. If you are working off plans then this initial meeting will be in the showroom. Please visit our brochures section to explore our suppliers and get inspired. If you have images or an idea of what you want then please do email or WhatsApp them through to us: info@localflooringandtiles.co.uk or 07951 975397
2 – One of our Designers will visit you and discuss your needs and wants to ensure that your new kitchen suits your lifestyle perfectly. They will then measure the room and they will be able to show you samples and advise on what preparation work would need to be done and go through any questions you may have.
3 – Our Designer will get back to you within a few weeks with our initial 3D designs – we can email or Whatapp these to you.
4 – The next stage would be to arrange an in-showroom appointment to go through the designs and make changes together. We will go through samples and finalise appliances/sinks/taps and worktops. We can also review flooring to match your units. Once we have firmed up the details we will be in a position to prepare estimates for you.
5 – Our Designer will email you with your kitchen estimate within a few weeks of your firming up the details. We can offer this as supply only or we can offer a complete project job which can include supply, installation, plastering, electrics, plumbing and decorating.
6 – We offer another in-showroom appointment to go through the estimate and make changes if required. Sometimes we will be able to advise what items you can swap to increase or decrease the total costs to suit your budget.
7 – When you are happy to proceed we will require a deposit of 50% to order the kitchen and book our installers. The outstanding balance is required the week before the installation date or delivery date on supply-only projects. *Please allow 1 – 3 hours for each appointment with our designers *
The above is a rough outline of what to expect but please note that our service is very personalised meaning we can work around how you want to work – for example, clients require us to work remotely for initial appointments. Please do call us to discuss this in more detail.
Walk-in design enquiries: to avoid disappointment please call ahead to ensure that our designer isn’t out on a survey or with other clients.
Supply only kitchens
Once you have paid the initial deposit we will send you through all the plans and elevations. We advise you to share these with your kitchen installer so that they can review them. If they have any questions or require any changes they can contact us directly. Once everyone is happy we will order in your kitchen. This can take anything from 1 week to 8 weeks depending on the supplier and range of kitchen. Our designers will be able to confirm the timeframe prior to you placing your order.
Some of our suppliers will deliver your kitchen orders directly whilst others will deliver to us. We can then arrange delivery at a time that suits you or you can arrange to collect from us.
We will work with your fitting team throughout the installation. They can call the shop or mobile at any time if they require further assistance or advice.
We will come and view the kitchen once the installation is complete to ensure that you are happy with everything.
Full package projects
As soon as you’ve confirmed you are happy to proceed we will provide you with a schedule of works. We will arrange a site meeting with all trades involved and go through the project and confirm the timings work for everyone involved.
First step is disconnection of all plumbing and electrical. Removal and disposal of all the old fittings. First fix plumbing and electrical works to be done. If any walls need to be repaired or skimmed in plaster then this would happen next. We then advise a mist coat of paint over all walls. Depending on the type of flooring you are having will depend if the floor goes in before or after the kitchen. For example, if it’s tiles or glue down flooring then we would advise to lay it next, wall to wall.
Then we will start fitting your kitchen units, time-wise this can vary hugely depending on the number of units and number of fitters involved; this will be outlined in the schedule of works.
Once all base units are in if you’ve chosen solid worktops such as granite, quartz or Dekton then we will arrange for the worktops to be laser-templated. After templating, it can take anything from 10 days to 3 weeks for them to fabricate the worktops and return to fit them (this will be agreed in the schedule prior to starting the project). During this time, our fitters will have the opportunity to complete the installation of wall units, panels, handles, pull-outs, frontals, trims, and plinths. Our decorators will also return to finish the painting.
Once the worktops have been installed, the second fix plumbing and electrical work can be completed. Our kitchen installer will then return to make final adjustments and ensure all frontals are properly aligned. Finally, our designer will arrange a visit to confirm your satisfaction and take a few photos of the finished kitchen
Full projects can take anything from 4 weeks to 12 weeks depending on the size of the project and the number of additional features you choose to include.
We limit the number of full installation projects in the year to ensure that we offer the highest level of service – creating a stress-free option for everyone involved.
